UCLA Mourns A Day After Shooting:

A murder-suicide on UCLA’s campus shocked the student body and sent the school into lockdown on Wednesday.

“Our hearts are heavy this evening as our campus family mourns the sudden and tragic deaths of two people on our campus earlier today,” said Chancellor Gene Block in an email. “Our UCLA family has indeed been shaken, but we will rely upon the strong bonds of our community and our faith in one another as we begin the process of healing.”
A professor, William S. Klug, was identified by UCLA Student Body President Michael Skiles as the slain individual

Oh No! Child Demolishes $15K Lego Statue:

To look but not touch proved to be too much for one young boy at a Lego show in southern China.

Within the first hour of the expo in Ningbo, a young boy pushed over a human-sized sculpture and sent its pieces toppling to the ground, according to state-run CCTV.
The artwork, an intricate statue of a fox named Nick from the animated Disney film “Zootopia,” took three days to create and cost more than $15,000, CCTV said on its Facebook page.
The artist, who CCTV identifies as “Mr. Zhao,” chronicled the experience on social media, posting pictures that showed him building the Lego sculpture brick by brick. The last image shows the sculpture in pieces.

Obama Dives Into 2016 Fight, Lambasts GOP On Economy:

President Barack Obama on Wednesday delivered a fervent appeal for a Democratic successor, wading deeper into the race to replace him even as his party has yet to produce a presumptive nominee.

Without mentioning any presidential candidates by name — Democrat or Republican — Obama lambasted what he said were economic myths peddled by the GOP, insisting any clear-eyed assessment shows the country better off now then when he took office.
Speaking in Elkhart, Indiana, a city he frequented at the beginning of his term as he worked to stave off an economic depression, Obama listed every major economic achievement of his presidency, from expanding overtime rules to tightening regulations on big banks.

Parents, Beware: These Are The 100 Deadliest Days For Teens:

Here’s a sobering statistic for the unofficial start of summer, when we gear up for picnics, barbecues and our kids having more free time on their hands: Memorial Day kicks off what’s known as 100 deadliest days for teen drivers.

From 2010 to 2014, more than 5,000 people have died in crashes involving teen drivers in those 100 days, AAA said today. A new study (PDF) by the association’s Foundation for Traffic Safety showed that nearly 60% of teen crashes involved distracted drivers.
The AAA says that over the past five years, the average number of crashes involving drivers ages 16-19 increased 16% per day during the “100 deadliest days,” compared with other days of the year.
