It’s coming up on a year since Bobby Brown laid to rest his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown. And it seems that with time comes reflection. The R&B icon just gave his most candid interview about the circumstances surrounding his first born child’s death, and made a surprising confession.

“We could have been better,” he says of how he and his late wife, Whitney Houston, raised their daughter. “We should have been better.”

The full interview, conducted by ABCRobin Roberts, is set to air on 20/20 on Tuesday. During the interview, Bobby and Robin will go into what he believes caused his daughter’s untimely death. “It’s not a mystery to me. The same thing that happened to my daughter is what happened to Whitney,” he said.

And despite taking the blame for what lead to Bobbi’s dependence on the drugs that ultimately killed her, he is not only pointing the finger at himself, but expressing his belief that Bobbi Kristina’s boyfriend, Nick Gordon, is also responsible. “He knows what happened,” Brown says of Gordon, “I don’t know what happened that night. But he does.”

Gordon has denied all responsibility and has not been charged for any crimes in relation to either Brown or Houston’s death.

The interview will also include an incredibly emotional moment in which Brown tells the story of letting his young daughter go.

“The last thing I told her, I just said, ‘Let go.’ I said, ‘It’s OK, you can go with your mom, daddy’ll be all right. I love you. You can rest now,’” Brown said. “Hardest thing I had to do in my life was tell my daughter to let go…. I don’t wish that on my worst enemy or any enemy. That is the worst pain in the world.”

The interview is set to air at 10pm on June 7th, on ABC.
