First Lady Michelle Obama is helping children from across the country eat better.

Monday, students gathered to help her harvest the White House Kitchen Garden.

After gathering nutritious fennel, turnips and kale that were turned into a delicious meal soon after, Mrs. O weighed in on the impact her focus on healthy eating has had nationwide.

“Folks across the country are starting to do what we’re doing here at the White House, and it’s really helping a lot of kids eat better,” the first lady told the children. “You guys are champions in that effort.”

The Founder of the Let’s Move campaign introduced the White House Kitchen Garden to Americans which was planted in the spring of 2009 as a part of her healthy eating initiative. The fresh produce in the garden has fed the Obamas and White House guests during family dinners and official functions.
