Made popular by reality shows and the belief in doing more with less, Cleveland’s first foray into permanent tiny homes is nearing completion.

Two homes are in the final stages of construction, and will be unveiled on June 22 in a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The two homes sit on a single lot at the corner of West 58th  Street and Pear Avenue. The effort is a collaboration between Sutton Development Group, Citizens Bank and the Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization.

The homes biggest feature is their lack of square footage. Each measures less than 700 feet.

“Small in square footage, but it’s really a livable experience for someone who doesn’t want to have a large house to take care of, large utility bills or a large mortgage,” said Keith Sutton.
