27-year-old Christian star quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks, Russell Wilson, believes God allows both good and bad things to happen to believers, in order to reveal Himself to others.

“I think that when we go through ups and downs in life, I think that God wants to use us as vessels so that people can see [and] really figure out who He really is,” said Wilson in an interview with CBN’s 700 Club.

For the gifted athlete, who has led the Seahawks to two conference championships and the franchise’s first Super Bowl title, even the huge losses have served as tools to help others witness firsthand how Christians handle adversity.

Among Wilson’s most painful losses was that of his dad Harrison Wilson, III, who died in 2010 at the age of 55 after a long battle with diabetes. Now, the 5-foot-11 player—the shortest quarterback in the league—has carried on the legacy of his dad, who was a rookie wide receiver for the Chargers in 1980 before being released on the final roster cut
