“My Brother’s Keeper” is a program launched by President Barack Obama in the wake of the Trayvon Martin killing.

The program uses mentors to advise young African-American men in need of guidance.

It’s already in numerous cities, including Columbus and Dayton.

And it will be launched in Cleveland with a July 8 rally at Patrick Henry Middle School.

Senator Sherrod Brown has played a leading role in bringing the program here.

He is crediting a number of players, including Federal Judge Solomon Oliver, Antioch Baptist Church Reverend Todd Davidson and Congresswoman Marcia Fudge, with laying the groundwork for this effort.
