First Rio Gold Medal Is Within Reach For US Women’s Gymnastics At Team Final:

The first set of results is in, and it’s confirmed: The US women’s gymnastics team is that good.

And barring a major disaster, the question heading into the team final Tuesday afternoon at the Rio Olympic Arena won’t be whether these five American women will win gold. It will be which teams get silver and bronze behind them

Three TN Girls Hurt In Fall From Ferris Wheel:

Three girls were injured after they fell from a Ferris wheel at a county fair in eastern Tennessee, police said Monday evening.

Greeneville police Capt. Tim Davis said a basket reportedly overturned on a Greene County Fair ride and dumped the occupants out.
They fell 35 to 45 feet and were taken to the Johnson City Medical Center — two by helicopter and one by ambulance, he said. All are alert and talking to hospital staff, Davis said.

What’s Missing From The 2016 Race: Inspiration

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump wrapped up their conventions on a high note this summer, hoping to launch their fall campaigns with legions of newly energized activists and a fresh opportunity to rebuild their battered images.

But in key swing districts, large swaths of American voters are watching the campaign — very closely, in fact — with an unmistakable level of disgust, and little admiration for either candidate. While a recent Pew Research Center poll found that voter engagement is at its highest level since 1992 — with 80% of registered voters saying they have thought “quite a lot” about the campaign — voter satisfaction with the two candidates is at its lowest level in two decades.

Donald Trump Attempts To Reboot:

Donald Trump will have to do more than hold his tongue for a day and offer an olive branch to Paul Ryan to steady his faltering campaign.

But the Republican nominee is at least making a start.
After a week of brutal self-inflicted wounds, Trump moved to get back on track Monday amid mounting questions about his character and suitability for the presidency.
Leaving his unconventional political persona at home, Trump went to the Detroit Economic Club, a traditional venue where generations of presidential candidates have spoken. He laid out more substance on his economic plans than ever before and made a significant move toward conservative orthodoxy on tax policy in an apparent gesture to Ryan, the GOP House speaker with whom he feuded last week.
