The west side took the brunt of Thursdays storms. Bay village, Westlake and Rocky River particularly littered with the aftermath.

Some families narrowly missed what could have been a tragic disaster on Detroit Road at Orchard Park Drive.

It was a huge tree that had to have been standing here there 100 years, they said. It was no match for what Teresa Graham is sure was a huge lightning strike that took seconds to take it down.

“It was really loud. The loudest lightening I’ve ever heard in my life,” said Graham.

Graham was standing in her kitchen, a stone’s throw from where the tree toppled into and took down power lines in her front yard.

“First, a flash of white light, then a series of blue lights after,” said Graham.

“Whoa! I’m thinking thank God I drove as fast as I did,” Stacie Gerrity told Channel 3 News, still “a little freaked out” after what she and son Kyle, had just seen.
