Summer break has come to an end for thousands of Northeast Ohio students as they head back to the classroom.

Cleveland schools are back in session Monday with the exception of Willow School, which is set to open Tuesday.

With the studying starting, Cleveland school officials are already looking toward the November ballot with a push to renew a 15-mill operating levy that was originally passed in 2012. The levy generates about 10 percent of the district’s operating budget, and an extension will not raise residents’ taxes.

In Summit County, students in Akron have a few more weeks off. The first day for those in grades 1-9 is Thursday, Sept. 1. The first day for students grades 10-12 is Friday, Sept. 2. Kindergarten classes, meanwhile, begin for Akron students on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
