First Lady Michelle Obama joined Nick Cannon and Seth Myers to surprise Howard University students with her Reach Higher message and initiative.

JetMag.com notes that “the goal of the initiative is to inspire every student in America to take charge of their future by continuing their education beyond high school, whether at a professional training program, a community college, or a four-year college or university.”

“Dont rush to be ballin’. Grow into your lifestyle,” the First Lady shared with the students.

Obama also encouraged students to “step out of your comfort zones and soar.” She added that her personal assistants are all former White House interns. “My life is controlled by 20-something-year-olds,” she joked. “It’s really annoying.”

Nick Cannon, who is enrolled at Howard University as a freshman, also share his support of the pursuit of higher education. People reports that Meyers asked the successful businessman why he decided to go back to school.

“I’m not here for a degree. I’m here because I have a real thirst for knowledge,” Cannon said.
