Clinton, Trump Tackle National Security Issues In Debate Preview:

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump clashed Wednesday over national security issues that exposed deep divides about how to manage the military and conduct foreign policy in an increasingly complex world.

The forum offered a preview of how the two candidates will present themselves to the country when they appear on stage September 26 at the crucial first presidential debate. The gulf between them was especially apparent when the discussion centered on Russia and combating ISIS.

Clinton has repeatedly slammed Trump on the campaign trail for his embrace of Russian President Vladimir Putin. But at the “Commander in Chief” forum hosted by NBC News, Trump once again praised the Russian leader in comparison to President Barack Obama.

Ryan Lochte Will Be Suspended 10 Months, Source Says:

US swimmer Ryan Lochte will be suspended from his sport for 10 months and will not be allowed to participate in the 2017 world championship meet as a result of his involvement in a gas station incident in Rio de Janeiro during the Olympics, a person with knowledge of the situation told CNN contributor Christine Brennan on Wednesday.

That means the 12-time Olympic medalist will not compete in another world championship until summer 2019. He turns 35 on August 3 that year.
The other three swimmers involved in the episode — Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger and James Feigen — also face suspensions but not as long as Lochte’s, the person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the decision has not been announced publicly, told Brennan.

Colin Kaepernick Pledges To Donate Money From Jersey Sales:

Since staging a protest during a performance of the national anthem, Kaepernick’s San Francisco 49ers jersey has been the top seller on the NFL Store’s website.

His #7 jersey is listed for $99, which could mean a lot of money for the second-string quarterback.

According to the agreement between the NFLPA, the players’ union, and the league, players gets two-thirds of the money made by selling jerseys. The other third goes to the union — and some of that goes into a pool for all NFL players.

The NFLPA and the NFL did not immediately respond to CNNMoney’s questions about whether they would donate any money they make from the sales.

It’s not clear how much money the jersey has generated thus far. But the boost in sales, which is a sign of support for Kaepernick, is especially surprising given that he lost his starting position last season.
