A local community activist is raising awareness about the violence on the city’s East Side and he’s doing it in a unique way.
Basheer Jones is camping out at 79th and Superior, an area he says is the one of the city’s most dangerous neighborhoods.
Jones says that in the last two weeks, there have been several homicides in the area, which is one of the reasons why he chose to camp out there.
For three days he plans to meet with neighbors, city leaders and business owners. He wants solutions on how everyone can build a safer community.
