The Cleveland area’s unemployment rate is higher than the national average, but the forecast for seasonal jobs is good, even better than last year.

90 percent of employers plan to hire workers this holiday season. That’s up 10 percent from last year. Good news for you, but a challenge for businesses. With more jobs available they’ll have to compete for you! That means enticing you with more money. Retail jobs paid just $9.70/hour last year, but this year’s average is $13.90/hour.

Stores are attracting workers by rolling out extra perks like cash bonuses, more flexible hours, and even parties for employees at work. Toys R Us is holding its first-ever national hiring day to lure in job candidates.
