Electoral College Set To Make Trump’s Win Official:

The 538 members of the Electoral College are set on Monday to make President-elect Donald Trump’s victory official.

In all 50 state capitals and the District of Columbia, electors — chosen by the state parties of the candidate who carried their state, Trump or Hillary Clinton — will meet to cast their ballots. The gatherings will remove the last bit of drama from 2016’s unprecedented election season — and post-election efforts to persuade Republican electors to vote against Trump, in some cases in violation of state laws requiring electors to support the victor.

Russian Dissident: Vladimir Putin Will Use Hacking Tactic Again:

A former Russian oil tycoon who became a prominent critic of Vladimir Putin has said he believes the Kremlin leader is savoring the widespread belief he influenced the US election, and warns that the Russian president will likely repeat the ruse of appearing to hack western democracies in the years ahead.

Mikhail Khodorkovsky said Putin had probably not changed the result of the November election, but would use the appearance that he had done so to perturb other western democracies.

“For Putin it was very important not so much to demonstrate some direct influence on the American election process — because it’s not very possible in reality — but to show that (he) is capable of such influence,” Kodorkovsky said in an exclusive interview with CNN.

‘Rogue One’ Lands With $290 Million Worldwide Box Office Debut:

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” landed a most impressive $155 million opening in North America this weekend.

The opening weekend for “Rogue One” exceeded Disney’s expectations. The studio projected that the film would debut in the range of $120 million to $150 million.

It also brought in $290.5 million globally, making it the top movie around the world. And that number is without the world’s second largest movie market, China. The film opens there on January 6.

The audience demographics for “Rogue One” this weekend were 59% male and 41% female, while 26% were between the age of 26 and 34, according to data shared by the studio.

Stay Warm! Your Life May Depend On It:

Baby, it’s cold outside — and many of us first feel the freezing temperatures of winter in our toes and fingertips before elsewhere in the body.

This happens as your body works to protect your vital organs from the cold, said Dr. Suzanne Salamon, associate chief of clinical programs at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
“The blood vessels in all different parts of the body will constrict,” she said. “They’ll get smaller to try to preserve heat.
“What the body tries really hard to do is to protect the most important organs, which are the ones deep inside: the heart and brain and lungs,” she said. “The body tries to keep those warm by redirecting heat from the fingers and toes inward, so the blood vessels in the fingers and toes get really small, and not enough blood goes through them.”

China: Seized Underwater Drone ‘Tip of Iceberg’ When It Comes To US Surveillance:

An underwater drone seized by the Chinese navy is the “tip of the iceberg” of US military surveillance in the South China Sea, Chinese state media said Monday.

The Pentagon has said the underwater vehicle was an unclassified piece of equipment conducting routine operations but a commentary published in the People’s Daily, the ruling Communist Party’s official mouthpiece, said the drone was linked to US efforts to “contain” China.
“The US side played down its drone activities, but its intention behind them cannot be concealed,” the commentary said.
