According to Christian singer Ciara, expectant wife of NFL star Russell Wilson, abstaining strengthens friendship, which is the cornerstone of a healthy romantic relationship.
“I really believe that when you focus on a friendship, you have the opportunity to build a strong foundation for a relationship,” said the R&B vocalist in a new interview with Cosmopolitan South Africa.
The blissfully happy newlywed star is covering the publication’s February 2017 issue.
Though celibacy governed her romance with Russell, it wasn’t previously a reality in her relationship with former fiance’ Future.
In 2014, while dating Future, real name Nayvadius Wilburn, according to the rapper, the two got it on pretty quickly. Now the exes share a 2-year-old son, Future Jr.
She and Russell did things a lot differently, agreeing to practice abstinence, firmly rooting their budding relationship in friendship and faith.
