How Donald Trump Changed The Presidency In 7 Days:

Forget the first 100 days. It’s only been a week and Donald Trump is reinventing the presidency.

Amid a torrent of action, disruption and protest, the new President’s moves on trade, immigration and foreign policy have honored his campaign promises — and dramatically reshaped Washington’s role in national and global affairs.
Some things are clear at the end of this jarring week. Trump won’t have an epiphany and suddenly embrace Beltway conventions. As president, he will keep conjuring his own reality and is happy to use the backdrop of the White House to advance his many rhetorical wars.

One day after the inauguration, President Donald Trump is settling into his new duties.

The first family is also adjusting to life in their new roles as first lady, first sons, first daughters and first grandchildren.
Following the inaugural ball festivities Friday night, Tiffany and boyfriend Ross Mechanic; Donald Jr., wife Vanessa and daughter Kai; and Eric and wife Lara split off from the presidential motorcade and headed to the Trump International Hotel DC, where they were spotted celebrating the day with a midnight balloon drop with friends and family. Marla Maples, mother of Tiffany and Trump’s second wife, posted an Instagram with her daughter and some friends from the luxurious lobby bar, The Benjamin.

Insurers Warn: We’re Outta Here With No Obamacare Replacement:

Health insurers want to see how Congress intends to replace Obamacare before they commit to offering policies for 2018, a new survey has found.

One of the biggest issues is the individual mandate, which requires nearly all Americans to buy insurance or pay a penalty. If Republican lawmakers repeal the mandate without a replacement plan, insurers said they’d “seriously consider” withdrawing from the market next year, the Urban Institute report said. They see “significant” risks in remaining while the details of a replacement bill are in doubt.

The effort to repeal major portions of Obamacare, including the mandate, are already underway in Congress, but Republicans remain divided over how to replace it. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday that lawmakers are looking at including some replacement measures in the bill.

Now Hiring: Core Staff For Melania Trump:

It’s been almost a week since her husband took office, and first lady Melania Trump still has not officially announced her own White House team. While she won’t be a full-time DC resident until son Barron, 10, completes his school year at a New York City private school, a spokesperson for the first lady this week told CNN that Trump would be “splitting her time between Washington and New York for the next few weeks.”

One of the big tasks on her agenda: filling the open slots of her top staff positions.
Notably missing from Trump’s staff are a press secretary, a social secretary, a communications director and a chief of staff. Some had assumed a front-runner for social secretary would be David Monn, the New York-based event planner, whose website carries the slogan, “Truth is beauty, and beauty is truth.” He was responsible for the look and feel of several inaugural parties, including the candlelit dinner at Union Station the night before President Donald Trump’s swearing-in.
