God never promised us that every day would be easy. There will be heartaches, cloudy days and prolonged seasons of struggle in the life of every believer.

But the assuring news is, the Lord never leaves His children comfortless. So if you’re going through a hard time, you can find refuge in the word of God with these 7 Bible verses to comfort you in affliction.

#1 Psalm 34:19 NIV “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the LORD delivers him out of them all.”

No matter what you’re going through, how rocky the road and how long your journey through the wilderness turns out to be. In the midst of it all, there is a hope. Receive this assurance from the Word that God has a plan for your deliverance. The struggle is temporary.

#2 John 16:33 MSG I’ve told you all this so that trusting me, you will be unshakable and assured, deeply at peace. In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties. But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.”

Let’s face the truth: expecting to live a trouble-free, burden-free life is neither realistic nor biblical. Right in the pages of Scripture we find a guarantee that we’ll go through. Nevertheless, our conquering Savior, Jesus Christ, has already overcome our many afflictions. He won the victory at Calvary. And because we belong to Him and He lives in us, we are victorious, too! In fact, we are more than conquerors through Him, according to Romans 8:37.

#3 Romans 8:18 (NLT) “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”

Always remember, suffering is a time-limited event and serves a purpose. It sets us up for God’s glory to be revealed in and through us. When you are brought low in your life, God will raise you up in due time. 2 Corinthians 4:17 (NLT) puts it this way: “For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!”
