Due to a recent decline in millennial attendance, some ex-Christians believe that millennials should leave the church if they have not already discontinued attending. It is known that homophobia, sexual assault, and discrepancies with faith have plagued the church at times. Individuals such as Eddie Long, Kim Burrell and Mark Driscoll have made it scary to attend church.

Many of these legacy style values have driven away the diverse and non-conventional millennial race. Millennials are the most educated generation in United States history. They often find it difficult to identify with the members of the church because of the criticism and public humiliation they often receive for having certain beliefs or practicing traditionally non-Christians principles, for example, being gay.

I attend church and always keep my grandmother’s words in my heart whenever I do. She always told me that church would teach me lessons of discipline and patience that I could not learn anywhere else.
