The Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Cleveland Browns 21-18 in the first game of the season on Sunday.

Browns rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer threw his first touchdown pass of his NFL career with about four minutes left in the game.

“Obviously, there are some drives that we are proud of and that we are headed in the right direction on, but there were also some lulls within the game that we have to try to cut back on,” Kizer said.

Kizer threw for 222 yards, one touchdown and one interception in his NFL debut. Browns offensive lineman Joe Thomas said he showed good resolve after Cleveland was down early.

“I thought he did a nice job in his first opportunity out there playing in the NFL. He showed composure. That is crucial for any NFL quarterback,” Thomas said.
