Atlanta mayoral candidate calls for recount: ‘It’s not over yet’:

Atlanta voters hit the polls on Tuesday and delivered a nearly split decision in the city’s mayoral contest, leading candidate Mary Norwood to call for a recount minutes into Wednesday morning as Keisha Lance Bottoms celebrated the result.

“We will be asking for a recount,” Norwood said.
Norwood cited an unofficial count in remarks before her supporters, and said while she was trailing her opponent Bottoms, she was waiting for further updates on the vote total later in the week.
“It’s not over yet,” Norwood said.
Bottoms, meanwhile, delivered a celebratory speech alongside sitting Mayor Kasim Reed, who backed her bid.

Trump’s Jerusalem decision promises upheaval:

President Donald Trump’s fragile political standing among American voters may be about to cause dangerous reverberations in the Middle East.

His announcement Wednesday that he will recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and begin to relocate the US embassy there from Tel Aviv is sparking debate over what the President personally, and the United States, will gain given that the decision marks a sharp foreign policy turn and comes with such high risks.
Critics doubt that the President is acting on the basis of long-held principles or a coherent national security strategy and charge he is instead determined to further personal goals at a time when he needs to show his political base that he is rapidly ticking off his campaign promises.

Wildfires continue to rage across Southern California:

Burning with extreme speed and ferocity, a flurry of wildfires torched more than 65,000 acres in Southern California, as firefighters struggled to control the simultaneous infernos.

Powerful Santa Ana winds and extremely dry conditions fueled at least five wildfires Tuesday, marking what has been a devastating year for fires in California.
The latest fires forced tens of thousands to flee their homes, burned down more than a hundred buildings and triggered power outages in the region.
After a slowdown of Santa Ana’s fire Tuesday night, the winds are expected to pick back up Wednesday into Thursday, which could complicate firefighting efforts.

LaVar Ball Talks Son LiAngelo Leaving UCLA, Giving Donald Trump Z02 Shoes on CNN:

LaVar Ball told CNN on Tuesday morning he removed his son, LiAngelo Ball, from the UCLA Bruins basketball program because he felt the length of his suspension related to a shoplifting arrest in China was “ridiculous.”

“That’s one of the main reasons he went to UCLA is to play basketball. That’s his passion,” LaVar said. “And for them to prolong this and go on and on, it’s ridiculous to me.”

The Ball family patriarch also discussed the latest update on his public feud with United States President Donald Trump:
