13 siblings held captive — how did no one else know?:

A nondescript, burnt orange house in Southern California — similar to many others on the same street — turned out to be a prison for 13 siblings.

Now questions abound over why the Turpin children were allegedly held captive by their parents — and how no one else seemed to know.
If not for a daring bolt by a 17-year-old girl, she and her siblings might still be trapped.
The teen “appeared to be only 10 years old and slightly emaciated,” the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.
Using a cell phone she grabbed from the house, the girl tipped authorities off to a gruesome scene.

Six teen suicides in six months in one Ohio school district:

Late last week, Hayden Porter, a 15-year-old freshman at a high school in Ohio, took his life. He was the sixth current or former teenage student from the school district to kill themselves within the past six months.

Three of the suicides occurred in a span of 11 days in January.
Police say the suicides don’t look like they are linked, and the methods the children used were varied.

Olympics diplomacy could solve the Korea crisis:

Olympics diplomacy will get its day, even if it comes beneath the shadow of the North Korean nuclear program.

This week, South and North Korean officials will meet in the truce village of Panmunjom for “working-level talks” to “work out details on the North’s participation in next month’s Winter Olympic Games,” South Korea’s unification ministry said Sunday.
Asked on Sunday evening about North Korea, US President Donald Trump noted: “the Olympics, you know about. A lot of things can happen.”
Indeed, as military options are under consideration in Washington and beyond, sport is offering diplomacy a boost. And perhaps the opportunity for opening a dialog that goes well beyond next month’s Games in the resort town of Pyeongchang.
Ann Curry will be on CBS for interview about #MeToo, Matt Lauer:

Ann Curry is coming back to television.

“CBS This Morning” has landed an interview to be broadcast Wednesday with the former co-anchor of NBC’s “Today,” the network announced Tuesday.

CBS will ask Curry about the #MeToo movement, the firing of former coworker Matt Lauer and her upcoming PBS docuseries, “We’ll Meet Again.”

Curry left NBC in 2015, three years after she was abruptly ousted from her yearlong tenure as a “Today” anchor. This is her first TV interview since leaving the network, according to CBS.
