Oprah Winfrey has sold 25% of her stake in Weight Watchers. She invested $43 million back in 2015 at a price of about $6.75/share. She will make a $65 million profit on this 25% sale alone — a sale she said was intended to balance her investment portfolio.
“I am deeply committed to Weight Watchers and continue to see a bright future for the company,” Winfrey said in a statement.
Winfrey reportedly made $110 million this month by selling 2 million shares of the company, according to a regulatory filing. She also donated a small share to her charitable foundation.
