In light of comedian Bill Cosby being convicted of sexual assault against Andrea Constand in 2004, his alma mater Temple University has revoked his honorary degree according to CBS Philadelphia.

First receiving the degree in 2001, the university watched this 2018 trial very closely. And in a statement released to the public, Temple University stated, “Today the Temple University Board of Trustees has accepted the recommendation of the University to rescind the honorary degree,” the actor’s alma mater said in a statement.”

Cosby played a huge part in the University’s development throughout the years. From 1982 to 2014 served as a member of the board of trustees until he was forced to resign because of sexual assault claims.

Other colleges and universities like Carnegie Mellon University took back the honorary degree that they gave him in 2007 because of his April 26 verdict.
