Marvin Sapp gave a humbling speech on Tuesday night during the GMA Honors in Nashville, TN.

Sapp, who was honored by the Gospel Music Assoication Hall of Fame, told the crowd that he didn’t get into making Gospel music to receive awards, but to give God the glory.

“The goal was never to receive awards… I just wanted to give God the glory. That was my goal then, and still my goal now. That I will be a vessel that is totally and completely used by God,” Sapp, who is the Bishop of Lighthouse Full Life Center Church in Detroit said.

This year’s  GMA Hall of Fame inductees included CCM artist Carman, award-winning Southern Gospel artist Karen Peck Gooch, legendary Gospel family group The Staples Singers and acclaimed producer Greg Nelson. The event also honored, Chonda Pierce for Branches Counseling Center, Ryan Lampa for People Loving Nashville and Lipscomb University, along with Sapp.
