Actress Erika Alexander made a stop in Cleveland for a speaking engagement entitled, “Keeping It Colorful.”

The actress, best known for her work on Living Single and The Cosby Show started the movement to encourage more diversity in art forms.

The program took place at Cleveland’s historic Karamu House.

The creative space was founded in 1915, and is the oldest African American theater in the country.

Alexander elaborated that her goal is to green light over 50 digital (series) pilots from creators of color in 2018.

The Arizona native has been touring the country for several months offering advice to creators and made a point to visit Karamu House.

“Cleveland is where it’s at,” exclaimed Alexander, “It’s just sad, because being in the industry I saw that there was a lack of voices bridging the gap for people of color.”

A problem she thinks can be solved through her group ColorFarm Media.
