Moments after announcing he’s signing with the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James took to social media to thank the place he still calls home.

In a series of posts on his Instagram story, James thanked Northeast Ohio for his past for seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Akron native then proceeded to share images of his “I PROMISE” elementary school, which is scheduled to open in his hometown this July.

“Thank you Northeast Ohio for an incredible 4 seasons,” the 4-time MVP wrote. “This will always be home.”

In the four seasons since James returned to the team that drafted him in 2014, the Cavs appeared in four straight NBA Finals, winning their first world championship in franchise history in 2016. In that span, Cleveland never won fewer than 50 games in the regular season.

Not coincidentally — and perhaps fittingly — James used an image of himself at the Cavs’ championship parade two summers ago to thank Cleveland.
