*“We’re the Campbells” follows Gospel music power couple Warryn and Erica Campbell as they balance raising their family, building their own individual empires, growing their flourishing church ministry and maintaining their strong faith.
Unlike her previous reality series “Mary Mary” with sister, Tina Campbell, Erica tells EUR/Electronic Urban Report that her new TV One series focuses more on “what’s happening in my house.”
“It’s not just the music business. It’s not just conflict. It’s so much more. It’s raising kids in 2018. It’s being a First Lady of a church. I don’ think the cameras came much to our church on “Mary Mary.” You hear me talk about Mary Mary a little but it’s all home and family and building and teaching and maintaining the love with my husband.”
This week on ”We’re the Campbells,” the family examines colorism when Erica discovers that her eldest child Krista struggles with self-esteem because of her dark skin tone.
She also introduces Krista to Kheris, a social media star who has her own fashion line dedicated to embracing her dark complexion. After Erica shares Krista’s concerns with her husband Warryn, he reveals a secret he’s kept from Joi– that certain record executives refused to work with her because they thought her skin was too dark. When Warryn shares the truth, she questions remaining in the music industry altogether.
This season, Erica says, fans will also “see how daddies feel about their daughters growing up — that’s really hilarious.”
