A Cleveland police officer was indicted by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury on Tuesday on two counts related to sending explicit content to a 17-year-old girl.

According to the Rocky River Police Department, Thomas Tewell has been under investigation since February, when the department received a complaint that he was having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old girl.

During the investigation, Cleveland Police placed Tewell on restricted duty with no contact with the public.

Tewell, a 32-year-old Fairview Park resident, was indicted for disseminating matter harmful to juveniles and unauthorized use of property.

According to Cleveland Police spokesperson Det. Reginald Lanton, the Director of Public Safety has relieved Tewell from duty without pay pending the adjudication of the case.

Tewell is scheduled to appear in Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court on July 31.
