Her favorite food was spaghetti. She loved the “Walking Dead.”  He was a great student who was set to graduate.

Their names are Manuel Lopez Jr., 17, and Giselle Lopez, 19,—a brother and sister who were killed in the driveway of their Garfield Heights home on Wednesday.

Garfield Heights City Schools remembers their life and legacy they left behind to students at Garfield Heights High School.

Giselle was a promising student, remembered for her dedication to her studies. She ranked fifth in her class, achieving a 4.130 GPA. Giselle made the honor and merit roll throughout her career at Garfield Heights High School.

With perfect attendance during her freshmen year, she was known to teachers as extremely kind, responsible and dedicated to her studies, according to a 2014 post on the school’s page featuring Giselle as the Spanish student of the month.

The district released the following statement:

The Garfield Heights City Schools is deeply saddened by this sudden, tragic, and senseless loss of life. The District has already and proactively involved internal and external grief counselors and other professional resources for staff and students. Despite this tragic loss, we are all Bulldogs in the Garfield Heights City Schools, and we will stick together as a family. We ask that everyone respect the privacy of the family and other individuals closely involved.
