A depression, a hostage situation and terrorist attacks, the observation tower on top of the Cleveland’s most distinguished tower has lived it all. Today however, the deck is reopened and provides a view of the city from 42 floors up

Terminal Tower, the signature skyscraper for downtown Cleveland, was the second-tallest building in the world when it was completed in 1930. Visitors to the 42nd floor observation deck can reportedly see 30 miles on a clear day.

The observation deck has a storied past. On August 26, 1976 Ashby Leach held 13 hostages in the conference room at Chessie System, located on the 42nd floor. The deck would remain closed until Chessie left the building.

The Tower closed the deck after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. The Observation Deck reopened on July 10, 2010.
