Limo crash kills 20 people in deadliest US transportation accident since 2009:

A limousine carrying several couples to a birthday party failed to stop at an intersection in upstate New York and struck a parked vehicle, killing 20 people in the deadliest transportation accident in the United States in nearly a decade, according to authorities and a family member.

The 2001 Ford Excursion limo was traveling southwest on State Route 30 when it didn’t stop at the intersection with State Route 30 A and collided with an SUV in the parking lot shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday in Schoharie, New York State Police First Deputy Superintendent Chris Fiore said.

All 18 people in the limo were killed, including the driver, Fiore said Sunday. Two pedestrians near the unoccupied, parked 2015 Toyota Highlander were also killed, he said.

How Kavanaugh maneuvered to win his confirmation fight:

Trump administration officials who find themselves beset with scandal or disgrace often muster a defense according to how they believe the President will respond as the “audience of one” scrutinizes their performance on a Tivo-ed recording of Fox News

Over the past month, as Judge Brett Kavanaugh and his confirmation team navigated allegations from woman that he had sexually assaulted them in high school and college, a new — and for some, an unfamiliar — dynamic was at play.
Like his beleaguered predecessors, Kavanaugh recognized the President’s own perception of him would largely depend on what he saw on his television screen. But he also recognized it was not Trump’s view that mattered, but the four fence-sitting senators whose votes would determine his fate.

More US teens are rejecting ‘boy’ or ‘girl’ gender identities, a study finds:

More teenagers are identifying themselves with nontraditional gender labels such as transgender or gender-fluid, according to a new study.

The research, published Monday in the journal Pediatrics, found that almost 3% of Minnesota teens did not identify with traditional gender labels such as “boy” or “girl.” That number is higher than researchers expected. A UCLA study from a year ago estimated that 0.7% of teens identified as transgender.
Lead researcher Nic Rider of the University of Minnesota said the main purpose of the new study was to examine health differences between gender-nonconforming teens and teens who are cisgender, a person whose gender identity aligns with the sex assigned to them at birt
