Washington Post publishes ‘last piece’ by missing Saudi journalist Khashoggi:

The Washington Post has published what the newspaper describes as the “last piece” written by missing Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, who was allegedly killed and dismembered in his country’s consulate in Istanbul earlier this month.

In a note at the top of the column, published late Wednesday, Post Global Opinions editor Karen Attiah wrote that she “held off publishing it because we hoped Jamal would come back to us.”

“Now I have to accept: That is not going to happen,” she said. “This is the last piece of his I will edit for The Post. This column perfectly captures his commitment and passion for freedom in the Arab world. A freedom he apparently gave his life for.”

The FBI asks for the public’s help in finding missing girl whose parents were found dead:

Two days have passed since Jayme Closs’ parents were found dead and the 13-year-old girl vanished. But as investigators scramble to find her, few answers have emerged.

More than 400 tips have poured in since Jayme disappeared from her Wisconsin home on Monday. But the FBI is pleading for more help in finding the girl, who is the subject of an Amber Alert.

Roseanne Barr responds to ‘The Conners’ debut:

Nearly five months since ABC’s much-publicized axing of its “Roseanne” revival from its lineup, the network on Tuesday premiered “The Conners,” a half hour spin-off framed around the fictional family of Roseanne Conner.
In the first episode, Dan (John Goodman), Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) and Roseanne’s children are three weeks into dealing with the aftermath of her sudden death from what they believe to be a heart attack.
It doesn’t take long, however, for the truth to come out: Roseanne died as a result of opioid abuse.

Caroll Spinney, Big Bird actor, flying ‘Sesame Street’ coop:

Caroll Spinney, the puppeteer who has portrayed Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch on “Sesame Street” since the program’s 1969 premiere, announced Wednesday that he is stepping down from the roles.

The news was made public via “Sesame Street’s” official Twitter account

Melania Trump’s destructive message to sex crime victims:

In an interview with ABC News, first lady Melania Trump said that victims of sexual assault “need to have really hard evidence” before coming forward. She added, “I do stand with women, but we need to show the evidence. You cannot just say to somebody, ‘I was sexually assaulted’ or ‘you did that to me’ because sometimes the media goes too far. …”

The hypocrisy is jarring. Trump proclaimed that she “stand(s) with women,” yet, in the next breath, opined that sex crime victims should not be believed unless they produce independent corroborating evidence for their allegations. In fact, Trump badly misconstrues how sex crime cases and investigations actually work. At the same time, she sends a dangerous message that threatens to discourage sex crime victims from coming forward to hold their attackers accountable.
