Prince fans let’s get excited! We’re getting a Prince documentary.

According to Deadline, Ava DuVernay is helming a documentary about the late singer that’s headed to Netflix.

“Prince was a genius and a joy and a jolt to the senses,” DuVernay told Deadline. “He was like no other,” she added of the Oscar winner and eight-time Grammy recipient. “He shattered every preconceived notion, smashed every boundary, shared everything in his heart through his music. The only way I know how to make this film is with love. And with great care. I’m honored to do so and grateful for the opportunity entrusted to me by the estate.”

Not only did his estate bless the project, but before the Mary Don’t You Weep singer passed away, he reportedly reached out to Ava about working together.

As part of the development of the film, the estate has granted Ava full access to archives recordings and unreleased material by the prolific musician
