One of the suspects arrested in Saturday night’s shooting at Case Western Reserve University has been charged with attempted murder.

19-year-old Javon Williams of Shaker Heights has been charged with attempted murder after he and another suspect attempted to carjack a 20-year-old Case student, then shot him in the abdomen.

The victim’s friends reportedly heard gunshots and found him in the rear lot at 2223 Murray Hill road. When police arrived on the scene, the victim said he had been robbed and gave a description of two suspects.

University Circle Police located the two men who matched the victim’s description at an RTA station nearby. Police say the suspects fled and entered a ditch, where they exchanged gunfire with police. The other suspect was shot and taken to University Hospital.

A total of four University Circle police officers were involved. Cleveland Police say the investigation is ongoing.
