Michelle Obama says Melania Trump turned down her offer of help:
In turn, Obama writes she did the same for Melania Trump when it was her turn to occupy the role. Trump, however, has yet to take Obama up on the offer.
On Sunday, Obama was asked about the incident by ABC News’ Robin Roberts, “Has (Trump) reached out asked?”
“No,” said Obama. “No, she hasn’t.”
Suburban Chicago security guard was killed by police while ‘doing his job,’ lawyer says:
Several law enforcement agencies responded to the shooting around 4 a.m. Sunday at Manny’s Blue Room Lounge in Robbins, about 20 miles south of Chicago, Cook County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sophia Ansari told CNN. Four people were injured in that shooting, including an alleged gunman, Ansari said.
44 dead in California fires as the Camp Fire becomes the deadliest in state history:
The increased death toll comes as first responders battle blazes on both ends of the state, and brings the statewide death toll to 44.
Fierce winds continue to threaten lives and homes in Southern California’s Woolsey Fire, which has killed two people so far. The strongest Santa Ana winds in the south may bring gusts near hurricane force on Tuesday, CNN meteorologist Dave Hennen said.
Meanwhile, firefighters made progress Monday in containing the Camp Fire, which razed the town of Paradise, where most of the dead have been found. Harrowing stories of escapes and close calls are trickling out of the region.
Stan Lee, Marvel Comics visionary, dead at 95:

Kirk Schneck, an attorney for Lee’s daughter, tells CNN the comic giant was taken by ambulance from his Los Angeles home on Monday morning to Cedar’s Sinai Medical Center, where he later died. The cause of death is not yet known, according to Schneck.
Lee began his career at what was then Timely Comics in 1939. Over the years he was a writer, editor and occasional illustrator. But, bored with the output, he was preparing to leave the company when history took a sudden turn.
Trump says he’s not a racist. That’s not how white nationalists see it:
