Melania Trump leads new round of White House firing and fury:

In this White House, no one knows when the ax will fall or who will be swinging it.

A new day of firing and fury culminating in a staggering power play by first lady Melania Trump deepened already historic dysfunction in the administration on Tuesday, leaving top officials blindsided and confused.
Even compared with the senior staff knifings, bureaucratic turmoil and raging chaos that passes for normality in President Donald Trump’s White House, her sudden move against a top foreign policy official was a bombshell.

In a public statement that came out of nowhere, the first lady’s office warned that deputy national security adviser Mira Ricardel, with whom she reportedly clashed over a recent Africa trip, “no longer deserves the honor of serving in this White House.

Prosecutor: Suspects charged in 2016 killings of 8 Ohio family members planned crimes for months:

An Ohio family carefully studied the habits of members of another family — learning their routines, the layouts of their homes, and where they slept — before planning a deadly massacre that stunned a rural town, a prosecutor said Tuesday.

The eight victims — who ranged in age from 16 to 44 — were found shot to death at four crime scenes in and around the small town of Piketon on April 22, 2016. At one crime scene, police found a 4-day-old baby lying next to his slain mother. That child, along with a 6-month-old and a 3-year-old, survived the killings.
The suspects “spent months planning the crime,” Ohio State Attorney General Mike DeWine said. But they made mistakes, DeWine said.

Draymond Green Suspended for Game vs. Hawks After Kevin Durant Altercation:

The Golden State Warriors suspended Draymond Green without pay for Tuesday night’s game versus the Atlanta Hawks.

Green exchanged words with Kevin Durant after losing the ball just before the end of regulation Monday night against the Los Angeles Clippers:

According to Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com, the altercation carried over into the locker room.

Green reportedly “challenged” Durant about his upcoming free agency, per Shams Charania of The Athletic, and the argument remained a “simmering issue” Tuesday.

Per Haynes, Green also called Durant “a b—h” several times. The usually quiet Klay Thompson spoke up to his teammates and “stressed the importance of sticking together.”

Sandra Bullock donates $100,000 to help save animals from California fires:

Sandra Bullock has proved her congeniality extends to animals, too.

The actress made a $100,000 donation to The Humane Society of Ventura County, which is on the ground helping the non-human victims of the wildfires in Southern California.
“Our efforts for rescuing and caring for evacuated animals from the Hill and Woolsey fires had caught her attention and her team reached out to the shelter to show their support,” the organization wrote on Facebook. “Sandra Bullock and her family have reached out to other nonprofit organizations both during this incident and in the past. However, this time she wanted to contribute to those on the frontline rescuing animals in peril and hope others will choose to do the same.”
The group said the donation will help provide care for the animals — from horses and bulls to donkeys and ducks — evacuated from the fires.

Suburban Chicago security guard was killed by police while ‘doing his job,’ lawyer says:

A suburban Chicago police officer responding to a shooting Sunday at a bar killed a security guard who was just “doing his job,” an attorney for the slain man’s family said.

An officer from Midlothian, Illinois, fatally shot Jemel Roberson, a 26-year-old security guard working at the bar, Cook County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Sophia Ansari told CNN.
Law enforcement agencies responded to the shooting around 4 a.m. at Manny’s Blue Room Lounge in Robbins, about 20 miles south of Chicago, Ansari said. Three people and an alleged shooter were injured, she added.
Then, after Roberson had apprehended an alleged gunman, the Midlothian officer shot Roberson outside the bar, according to a federal lawsuit filed Monday that calls the fatal shooting “excessive and unreasonable” and says it violated Roberson’s civil righ
