I hope readers and ticket holders will understand my decision regarding my desire to attend President Bush’s funeral, and join me in paying tribute to him and his tremendous contributions to our world.
Former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama will attend former President George H.W. Bush funeral later this week.
Mrs. Obama, who has been on tour promoting her book, is putting her tour on hold to make the funeral.
“It’s important for me to join the Bush family in celebrating President George H.W. Bush’s exemplary life. This will unfortunately preclude my visits to Paris and Berlin,” Obama tweeted Sunday. “I’ve been deeply touched by the enthusiasm for my memoir, and I’m working to reschedule my trip for next year.”
Both Michelle and former President Barack Obama have become close to the Bush family, with Obama visiting Bush 41 in Houston three days before he died, according to the NY Post.
