CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -The Northeast Ohio business development group, Team NEO, is hoping some positive news about the future of jobs in the region will be enough to encourage young people to stay in the in the area.

According to the report just released, this region will need to replace one million workers in the next five years because of retirement or people leaving jobs.

In that same time period, it’s also expected the area will add 20,700 jobs across all occupations including 8,500 new healthcare openings for practitioners, and technical and healthcare support personnel.

By breaking down where the replacement jobs will be needed Team NEO said young people can make career choices now.

According to the report here are the sectors where the one million replacement jobs will be needed:

  • Food  Preparation and Serving Related 160,743
  • Office  and Administrative Support 158,826
  • Sales  and Related 128,957
  • Production  102,128
  • Transportation and Material Moving 76,301
  • Education, Training, and Library 44,726
  • Personal Care and Service 41,500
  • Healthcare Support 41,196
  • Business and Financial Operations 39,974
  • Building and Grounds Cleaning and Maintenance 37,415

Duritsky said it’s hard to tell where area young people have relocating to in the past.
