Barr ensures Congress can’t stop Trump now:

Donald Trump was right: He can get away with almost anything — a factor that is likely to mean an even more unchained presidency over the next 18 months.

All the reasons why Democratic efforts to check the President will likely fail were revealed in Attorney General William Barr’s trial by fire on Capitol Hill on Wednesday and his refusal to submit to a second round before the fired-up House majority on Thursday.

The drama also showed that in the short span of a White House term, given certain partisan conditions, the modern political system will find it almost impossible to constrain a President — especially one who poses such an overwhelming challenge to congressional custom as Trump.

This UNC Charlotte student knocked the shooter off his feet and saved lives:

When a gunman walked into his classroom at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte campus, Riley Howell rushed toward him, police and Howell’s family said.

Howell, 21, was shot “point blank” trying to take the man down, his aunt Morgan Howell Moylan said. Another student, 19-year-old Reed Parlier, was also killed, the school said.
The shooter rushed inside a classroom Tuesday and opened fired just as Howell and about 30 other students were listening to final presentations of their liberal studies class.

‘Jeopardy!’ contestant ties for the 2nd longest winning streak in the show’s history:

Another day. Another win.

James Holzhauer won his 20th game of “Jeopardy!” Wednesday, which means he now ties for the second-longest winning streak in the show’s history.
Holzhauer won $101,682, bringing his 20-day total to $1,528,012.
The 34-year-old from Las Vegas now shares the second-longest winning streak title with Julia Collins, who won 20 games in 2014.
Ken Jennings holds the record of the longest streak, which lasted 74 games in 2004, according to the show’s Hall of Fame.
The episode’s final clue came from the King James Bible

Google employees are staging another protest:

Protests are taking place at Google offices Wednesday, following allegations of retaliation from the company against employees who participated in walkouts last year.

Leaders of the protests have called on their co-workers to participate in sit-ins at Google offices around the world, six months after walkouts over the company’s handling of sexual harassment claims.
It has not been determined whether the student’s parents were seeking an advantage to get their daughter into Stanford with the payment to Rick Singer, the source said. There’s still the possibility they may have done nothing wrong but that will be determined by investigators, the source added.
Morgan Stanley adviser Michael Wu referred the parents to Singer, the source said. A spokeswoman for Morgan Stanley told CNN that the company is cooperating with investigators.
Wu “was terminated for not cooperating with an internal investigation into the college admissions matter,” the spokeswoman said.
