The Congress-White House fight pauses for Pelosi and Trump to meet:

Everything in Washington comes down to this: It’s House Speaker Nancy Pelosi vs. President Donald Trump.

America’s two most powerful leaders will come face-to-face again Wednesday in the latest twist of a many-layered test of wills that has momentous implications for the nation’s future.
Pelosi will have a frying-pan-into-the-fire moment when she heads to the White House from a meeting of her Democratic caucus, which is pulsating with calls for Trump’s impeachment.

Trump offered a window into his state of mind on Tuesday evening, lashing out at Democrats for refusing to accept his mantra of “NO COLLUSION and NO OBSTRUCTION!”

Fired lunchroom worker hadn’t charged student for 3 months, her former employer says:

A lunchroom worker in New Hampshire who said she was fired for allowing a student to take food without paying hadn’t been charging the student for anything for several months, her former employer said.

Bonnie Kimball was fired from her job with Café Services in April after a student at Mascoma Valley Regional High School in Canaan told her he didn’t have money to pay for the items on his lunch tray. She said she let him take the food for free and he paid his $8 lunch tab the next morning.
Kimball was dishonest and was let go for not following company procedures, Brian Stone, president of the company’s school division said in a statement Monday. She hadn’t charged the student for any part of the meal but told her manager she did. Every student in the line gets a lunch, so there was no reason for her to not charge the account, according to Stone.

“Sometimes in a relationship, you need to take a break,” she said. “But I don’t. You’re stuck with me. Because I just signed for three more years.”

What little kids need to know about sex:

I live in the Bay Area, where, according to my very unscientific estimate, approximately 8 out of 10 parents self-identify as enlightened. These are the moms and dads who broach thorny topics like race, poverty and sexism with their young children, undeterred by their complexity and high stakes.

Still, not all topics receive such a sensitive and nimble treatment. When it comes to talking about sexuality with young children, the majority of these otherwise open-minded parents become skittish and tongue-tied, wholly uncertain of what to say and how to say it. Private part exploration may be common and developmentally appropriate in little kids, but many of the grown-ups in charge of them would really rather not acknowledge it.
