The Cleveland Cavaliers have confirmed that owner Dan Gilbert suffered a stroke Sunday.

According to his family Gilbert is ” awake, responsive and resting comfortably” following his initial treatment.

Gilbert was taken to the hospital by a family friend early Sunday morning due to not feeling well. While in the hospital’s care, he suffered a stroke. Gilbert was immediately taken in for a catheter-based procedure and then transferred to the Intensive Care Unit.

His family is “grateful for the outpouring of support following the news of his hospitalization,” according to a press release distributed Monday.

In addition to ownership of the Cavaliers, Gilbert, 57, is the founder of Quicken Loans, as well as owner of real estate in Detroit and the JACK Casino in Cleveland, among other ventures.
