BET Awards both entertained and moved:

The most popular group at Sunday night’s BET Awards has never had a record deal.

The men, who as boys were known as the Central Park Five, took the stage to introduce Grammy Award-winning singer H.E.R.
Kevin Richardson, Antron McCray, Raymond Santana, Korey Wise and Yusef Salaam are now known as the Exonerated Five, and they received a standing ovation.

Their story was the basis of the Netflix limited series “When They See Us,” which dramatized their experiences of being wrongly convicted in a 1989 rape case in New York. The show has stoked strong feelings about how they were mistreated, subsequent struggles and eventual exoneration.

Trump may raise Hong Kong protests with Xi as city remains a thorn in Beijing’s side:

Hong Kong has once again burnished its reputation as a thorn in the side of the Chinese Communist Party and its leader, President Xi Jinping, after protesters swarmed the city’s streets for the third time in one week.

Years of relative calm after the 2014 Occupy protests had given the impression that the semi-autonomous Chinese city had fallen into step with Beijing under leader Carrie Lam.
But in just eight days, mass protests have forced the government into a rare public backdown, emboldened anti-China elements in Taiwan and may even become a part of negotiations around the trade war between the United States and China

Flying Wallendas make history crossing Times Square 25 stories in the air:

The Flying Wallendas astonished the world once again, becoming the first to cross New York’s Times Square on a tightrope 25 stories above the city streets.

A huge crowd at the iconic New York square was pulling for famed daredevil Nik Wallenda and his sister Lijana as they made the nerve-racking 1,300 foot crossing between 1 Times Square and 2 Times Square.
Nik started first from 2 Times Square at 9:20 p.m. Lijana started about a minute later at 1 Times Square. The two slowly made their way toward the other, chatting with each other, Lijana singing at times, and talking to their father via a communications system as the world listened in a live ABC broadcast.

A 10th American has died while vacationing in the Dominican Republic:

A man from New York died while vacationing in the Dominican Republic earlier this month, according to a US State Department official, making him the 10th American tourist to have died during or after their stay in the Caribbean nation.

The official confirmed the death in response to questions from CNN about media reports regarding the man, whose family said he suddenly became ill and died last Monday.
The State Department official did not offer details on the man’s identity or cause of death, but a family member identified him as Vittorio Caruso, 56, of Glen Cove, Long Island, according to CNN affiliate News 12 Long Island.

Infant formula sold only at Walmart is recalled because of fears of metal:

An infant formula sold only at Walmart was voluntarily recalled on Friday because of the potential presence of “metal foreign matter” in a single lot of the product, Perrigo Company said in a news release.

The recall affects a single lot, or 23,388 containers, of the 35-ounce, 992-gram containers of Parent’s Choice Advantage Infant Formula Milk-Based Powder with Iron.
No adverse events have been reported to date, the company said, but the recall was made out of an abundance of caution stemming from a consumer report. The recall was also made in consultation with the US Food and Drug Administration.
