Today, June 25 2019, marks the 10th anniversary of the death of Michael Jackson.

Jackson was 50 when he died of a drug overdose on 25 June 2009 at his home in Holby Hills, Los Angeles. He had taken popofol, lorazepam and midazolam. His cause of death was listed as an overdose from propofol.

Jackson had been rehearsing in Los Angeles for what was to initially be a residency in London followed by a world tour. Footage of the rehearsals, filmed by Sandrine Orabona, was made into the movie ‘This Is It’.

The Life of Michael Jackson was plagued by controversy. He faced trial of multiple sexual abuse charges of minors in the years leading up to his death but was acquitted on all counts. A recent documentary Leaving Neverland attempted to resurrect the accusations but failed to have any legal impact on the prior court cases.

Regardless of the controversy Jackson’s reputation of King of Pop goes unchallenged. He is one of the best-selling artists of all-time with over 350 million album sales. His biggest album ‘Thriller’ is estimated to have sold around 66 million copies worldwide.

Jackson has 15 Grammy Awards, 26 American Music Awards and has had 13 number one singles.
