CLEVELAND — Indians first baseman Carlos Santana was voted a starter for this year’s All-Star Game .

Santana is the only Indians player who advanced to the final round of voting.

“I’m excited to represent Cleveland alongside the best in Major League Baseball,” said Santana. “To be able to start in my first career All-Star Game, and to do it at home in front of our fans, means everything to me.”

He beat out the Twins’ C.J. Cron and the Yankees’ Luke Voit to take the starting job.

Santana has the most home runs among first baseman in the AL with 18.

He is the first Cleveland Indian since Jim Thome to start first base for the All-Star Game.

The All-Star game will be played in Cleveland on July 9.
