Roman Catholic Bishop of Cleveland Nelson J. Perez will be named the new Archbishop of Philadelphia according to reports.
Perez will succeed Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, who is retiring after a little over eight years in the position. The Vatican will reportedly make the announcement official at 6 a.m., with a press conference to follow at Philadelphia Archdiocesan headquarters four hours later.
Catholic journalist Rocco Palmo, who has been featured as an analyst in multiple mainstream outlets including The New York Times, first broke the story.
