A few weeks ago I caught up with a friend for lunch. We’d barely sat down when my friend, with great determination declared to me “I have made a decision! I am going to confront all of the haters in my life.”
She went on to say that she was tired of people holding her back, telling her that she wasn’t good enough, and talking her out of her dreams. I listened quietly as she continued on what was becoming a mini-sermon about how frustrated she was with her so-called friends and even family members that she so strongly believed were ‘hating on her.’
For those who may not be familiar with the term, let me try to define what the word “hater” means. There are many definitions but here’s the way I summarize the term:
A ‘hater’ is someone who thinks and speaks negatively of someone with no justification for their negative opinion.
