Their brand new single, Sanctuary, brings a fresh spin to a beloved worship song, inspired by the classic, “We lift our hands in the sanctuary.” Jemika explained, “We wanted to bring it up to a 2024 feel, so we decided to put a bop to it.” Cheryl couldn’t help but hear a bit of The Clark Sisters’ influence in the track, which brought laughter and agreement from the duo.

The Fergusons shared how they’ve been singing together since they were toddlers, growing up as “the singing twins” in their father’s church. Over the years, their talent blossomed, leading them to perform as background vocalists for gospel greats like The Clark Sisters, Kirk Franklin, Donnie McClurkin, and Kiara Sheard. “We felt it was time to move from the background to the forefront,” Jemika said, highlighting their transition to releasing their own music as Echo.

Reflecting on their time working with these gospel icons, Lindsay shared the most impactful lesson they’ve learned: staying true to who they are and living out their faith. “The artists we’ve worked with, they walk the talk. That’s so important to us as Echo — that we truly live out the good news and positivity of Jesus Christ.”

When asked how they navigate working together as sisters, Jemika noted how close their bond is, saying, “Lindsay is my girl. Where she’s weak, I’m strong, and where I’m weak, she’s strong. We just play off that balance.” Their creative process is a tag-team effort, with the two often bouncing ideas off each other until they find their stride.

The duo is excited about what’s next. “We’re putting the final touches on our EP and hope to release it at the top of 2025,” Lindsay shared. In the meantime, fans can connect with Echo on Instagram and Facebook at @EchoTheDuo, where they also share twin blogs and updates.

With Sanctuary already making waves, this twin-powered duo is one to watch in the gospel music scene.
