Cavs Assistants Bryant and Ott Finalists for Suns Head Coach Job

Two key voices on Kenny Atkinson’s new Cleveland coaching staff could be moving on.
The Suns, who recently fired Mike Budenholzer after one season, have narrowed their search.
Cavs assistants Johnnie Bryant and Micah Nori Ott are among the final candidates for the Phoenix Suns head coaching job, according to league sources.
Cleveland, who finished last season with the best record in the Eastern Conference, is now almost assuredly going to lose at least one of their top assistant coaches. ESPN reports that both Cavs candidates have built their coaching resumes on the backs of toughness, grit, and player development.
Bryant spent time with the Jazz and Knicks before joining the Cavaliers. Ott, a longtime video coordinator turned coach, earned respect for his player development work.
The Suns are expected to make a decision soon. A hire could happen before the NBA Draft.
