Lorain Police Officer Dies 1 Day After Being Ambushed

Heartbreak has hit Lorain.
A Lorain police officer has succumbed to his injuries in what officials are calling an ambush shooting.
The incident happened after Michael Parker, 28, “loaded his car up with guns, ammunition and improvised explosives”, before parking on River Bend Drive, close to Colorado Avenue.
While a pair of officers were eating lunch, Parker ambushed them with a high-powered rifle. They returned fire, ultimately killing Parker in the process.
Phillip Wagner, one of the officers involved in the shooting, died today at MetroHealth Medical Center. His death has devastated the department and the community.
This marks one of the deadliest moments for Northeast Ohio law enforcement in recent years.
