The date is not certain, but the vote, which was set for Feb. 23, can’t wait too long if the plan is to stay on a tight timetable. Chief Executive Officer Eugene Sanders said he needs a decision by mid-March so students facing reassignment to other schools can be notified in April.
Sanders tried this week, with varying success, to answer lingering questions that the board and residents have about his plan, which provides for academic reforms but also would close or move 18 schools. He indicated willingness to consider changes.
